Lombard Studios’ vision is rooted in a practice of liberation while living. We believe that when we operate from a state of collective well-being there is the possibility for innovation beyond what we can imagine. We believe that when Black women thrive, all women and communities thrive.
When we work towards our collective liberation we work towards our own liberation.
Lombard Studios builds on the legacy of the founder's mother, Rosamond “Posy” Lombard, a civil rights activist, artist, and teacher who lived her values. Posy’s fierce commitment to justice is Rosemary’s inspiration to create the “studio” as a pathway to a more just world. We are inspired by Posy’s political poster art and legacy.
Why are we a studio? The word studio, from the Italian studio or Latin studium, means to study. It also refers to an artist workroom. The “studio” is a space to study, to collaborate, and engage the full creative human capacity to find solutions to life's challenges. The “studio” is a space for art in the most comprehensive meaning of the word. The art of human relations, the art of management, the art of healing through practicing self-care and collective care; the art of coming together, making space for connection and creativity–be it virtual or in person; the art that comes out of struggle and bears new life, growth, and liberation. The studio is a “workroom” to connect, study, and integrate innovative solutions and practices to address our most difficult challenges.
Rosemary Lombard, Ed.M, MBA, is an innovator in incubating community and institutional partnerships focused on resilience building, population-wide trauma relief, and improving education systems. Over the last 20+ years, Rosemary has guided strategic growth and established programs for international nonprofits and mission-based organizations. She created systems, practices, and strategies for The Education Development Center's (EDC) global portfolio to grow from $8M to $50M in 19 countries over seven years and for the Center for Mind-Body Medicine to double in size over ten years. She artfully builds a balance between structure and support to generate impact.
Equal parts entrepreneurial and collaborative, Rosemary brings a background in finance, international development, and empathy to her work guiding strategic growth at non-profits, in health systems, with philanthropy, and through public-private partnerships.
